Eligibility

Children eligible to apply for a Hope for Henry Foundation gift are between the ages of 2 and 21 and receiving treatment for a life threatening illness through the hematology/oncology services at Georgetown University Medical Center, Hackensack University Medical Center and the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview in Minneapolis. Child life specialists and social workers at these institutions handle all requests by patients and their families for gifts. A formal "intake form" is available for patients to choose from a variety of gifts, including portable DVD players, digital cameras , Game Boy players, IPods and portable XM satellite radios.

Participating hospitals are eligible for annual grants up to $5,000 to improve the quality of life for pediatric patients. These funds have been used to provide hospital clinics with brand new, state-of-the-art pianos and music lessons, build DVD lending libraries, purchase computers and software and obtain a digital video camera for a pediatric patient movie project.

As part of our mission to enhance the quality of life of children and families living with life-threatening illnesses, Hope for Henry Foundation provides gift cards to the patients’ brothers and sisters whose lives are also interrupted by virtue of having a sibling who spends far too much time in the hospital.
